Buddy was really punky when he got home after his surgery. He wouldn’t eat and wold barely drink. For several days we couldn’t get him to eat his dinner at all. He would eat his meds and dog biscuits, but no dinner. Then the vet suggested we add canned cat food to his dog food to add moisture to his diet and also make his food more exciting. He totally went for that and now gobbles down his dinner mixed with half a can of cat food! He’s also drinking better — with a little encouragement!

I've had dogs and cats since I was 3. Currently my husband and I have 4 dogs and 5 cats. Dogs range from Buddy the 100-pound Golden, to Bella the 60-pound hound to Stubby the 40-pound Chow mix to Precie the overweight 20-pound mystery dog with the face of a Shitzu and the hair of a Yorkie or Schnauzer and the temperament of Attila the Hun! The cats rule indoors, the dogs own the back yard with a sleeping porch in the house at night.
Buddy is 10 and in spite of our hopes that he could avoid this Golden trait, has started getting sarcomas and just had his front left leg removed. We have had many pets die over the years - lovingly buried and remembered. But Buddy going to 3 legs is a new world for us.
thank you all for helping us in this difficult journey.

Okaaaaay! I’m going back and catching up on all your blogs! Don’t know how on earth I missed them!
Clear l y others have missed them too!
Anyway, glad you got him to eat and I love that you sleep with him! I could never sleep without a dog curled up beside me….sofa, floor, it doesn’t matter as long as we’re together!
Sally, you didn’t miss the blogs! I was up late last night posting all of them. It took me awhile to figure out how to start the blog – several days since I had lots of other things I needed to get done and would get frustrated and leave it until later when I couldn’t figure it out right away. Last night I was determined to figure it out!
I had lots of photos to share so I just wrote each episode in his adventure so far and added photos for each.
Yes the perks of being sick in our house are that you get to stay in the livingroom, Mommy stays with you most of the day, you get pets whenever you ask for them, and she even sleeps next to you at night!
When I was sick as a kid we got to have the TV in our room, Daddy brought us “sick presents” each day (new crayons, or new book), and we got to eat whatever we wanted!
